Master’s in Mathematical Sciences Degree Application
The AIMS Structured Master’s Program runs over three semesters. The requisite skills phase of the AIMS course builds a standard core set of problem-solving skills: estimation, computation, approximation, modelling, data analysis and statistics. The elective review phase allows students to apply these skills in some of the most exciting areas of science.
During the final phase of the AIMS course students do a research project and write a scientific report under the supervision of an expert researcher on a topic of their choice. Research initiated in these projects often develops into further postgraduate research work after AIMS.
Why Apply:- Classes are taught by renowned African and international teachers and supported by a team of resident tutors.
- Students and teachers cohabit in a permanent learning environment.
- A highly interactive teaching environment where students are encouraged to learn together through questions and discoveries.
- An emphasis on computing with 24-hour access to computer rooms and the internet.
- A Pan-African student body made up of at least 30% women.
- AIMS graduates embark on outstanding graduate programs and professional careers in Africa and around the world.

NIDDK High Risk Multi-Center Clinical Study Implementation Planning Cooperative Agreements (U34 Clinical Trial Optional)
NIDDK supports investigator-initiated, high-risk multi-center (more than one center) clinical studies through a two-part process that may include an implementation planning cooperative agreement (U34).
NIDDK High Risk Multi-Center Clinical Study Cooperative Agreement (U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
This FOA invites applications for investigator-initiated, high-risk multi-center observational studies involving more than one clinical center. Proposed studies should be hypothesis-driven and focus on a disease relevant to the mission of NIDDK. Planning activities must be completed prior to submission and are not permitted under this FOA.
Improving Health Disparities in Alcohol Health Services (R01 Clinical Trial Optional)
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits applications on health disparities and health services-related research focusing on: 1.) access to treatment; 2.) making treatment more appealing; 3.) costs; 4.) dissemination and implementation. All Applications are expected to emphasize health disparities in addition to the other four areas of focus mentioned above.
Leveraging Big Data Science to Elucidate the Mechanisms of HIV Activity and Interaction with Substance Use Disorder (R21 - Clinical Trials Not Allowed)
The purpose of this FOA is to attract data and computational scientists to propose novel ways to integrate data of different types and scales to allow new types of analysis through big data science approaches. It is expected that the development and application of novel computational, bioinformatics, statistical, and analytical approaches can be leveraged to reveal the effects of the interaction of the HIV virus and drugs of abuse on viral activity, latency, and disease progression, as well as new aspects of addiction biology.

Access and Benefits Sharing – Sustainable use of Biodiversity (ABSbio)
The ABSbio project, began in 2019 aiming to support capacity development for the implementation of the Access and Benefits Sharing (ABS) mechanisms in accordance with the Nagoya Protocol on access to biological recourses and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from their utilization. The project is being implemented by the International SEPT program at Leipzig University, in partnership with the Institute for Pharmacy (Leipzig University), Makerere University (MAK), Uganda, and the Inter-Regional University of Industrial Engineering, Biotechnology and Applied Sciences (IRGIB), Benin.
The project is working in Uganda and Benin to raise awareness on the role and relevance of Sustainable Business Models, build capacities in partner institutions on developing sustainable value chains, integrating biodiversity and ABS into teaching approaches of partner institutions, and promote knowledge exchange on the subject.
You are kindly invited to participate in this symposium as it provides an opportunity for interactive knowledge exchange and promote ideas for ABS and sustainable use of biodiversity in Africa and beyond.
Participation: To make the event interactive as well as reach a wider audience, the event will be hosted on Zoom and streamed live on YouTube. Please join on Zoom to contribute to the discussions via chat or in-person (use a headset).
